Fuding White Tea is Micro-fermented tea variety, is one of the six major teas in China. It is second to none tea in terms of taste, quality, and efficacy, is a special treasure among Chinese teas. It is named because the finished tea is mostly bud heads, covered with obvious and abundant white fuzzes, like silver and snow.
White Tea can be classified into four types: Silver Needle(Baihao Yinzhen), White Peony (Baimudan), Gongmei and Shoumei based on different tea plant varieties and plucking standards of fresh tea leaves (raw materials).
The plucking standard of Silver Needle is only the tender buds, grow in early spring. They are picked when the buds are first unfolded. Only the complete heart buds that are covered with abundant white fuzzes be taken. According to the difference of grade, white peony picks new unfolded one bud and one leaf to one bud and two or three leaves. Gongmei mainly pluck one bud and one or two leaves from Caicha (Vegetable) tea plant variety; Shoumei is using the fresh leaves as raw material with a few buds sometimes.
